Masque of Death es una agrupación española formada a finales del 2007 por la bella e increíble vocalista Sofía Ruiz y el baterista Abel Ramos, compañeros de universidad y amigos, luego de una corta búsqueda conocen a Carlos de Arquer, quien se incorpora como el guitarrista principal de la banda, luego de ello comienzan a trabajar en la composición de temas propios.

En el verano del 2009 graban su primer EP titulado Ivory Cities, el cual incluye 6 canciones, y del cual ya se puede escuchar la primera canción llamada “Black Red Roses” en su página oficial de myspace. Sin duda un temazo, la voz de Sofía Ruiz es realmente impresionante, me sorprendió en el momento en que comenzó a hacer los guturales, increíble de verdad.

Esta agrupación tiene un buen futuro por delante, y desde este blog les mando mis felicitaciones y les deseo el mejor de los éxitos, esperando pronto poder escuchar su primer álbum en estudio. Y por cierto, actualmente la banda se encuentra en búsqueda de un nuevo bajista, así que si están interesados pueden escribirles a este enlace. Hacía buen tiempo que no posteaba una lírica, y que mejor que regresar con una hermosa balada del gran maestro Zeno Roth, quien por cierto, es el hermano menor de Uli Jon Roth, guitarrista de la legendaria agrupación alemana Scorpions. Este temazo se encuentra en su segundo álbum en estudio titulado Zenology, el cual fue publicado en el lejano año de 1994. Una bella melodía que me encantó desde la primera vez que la escuché, y que a su vez me gustaría dedicársela a una de las mujeres más bellas del universo y de todos los tiempos desde la creación de la humanidad, a mi linda musa e inspiración, a la maravillosa Sharon den Adel.

La legendaria agrupación inglesa Inkubus Sukkubus nos acompaña en las líricas con el temazo “Heart of Lilith”, que se encuentra en su sexto álbum en estudio titulado Vampyre Erotica, y que fuera publicado en 1997. Uno de los primeros álbumes que escuché de esta banda, la cual me atrapó a primera escucha, especialmente por la hermosa voz de la bella Candia Ridley.

Su impresionante discografía nos ha dejado joyitas que solo pueden ser encontradas en el tercer fondo del abismo, sus canciones se inspiran en la práctica de la brujería, paganismo, demonios, vampiros, y cuentos de hadas. Creo que el nombre de la banda lo dice todo.

Todo un temazo con el cual nos demostraron su increíble calidad compositiva, una melodía y lírica dedicada a Lilith, creo que ya todos sabemos a quien se refiere, y que tengo la impresión, que es por esa razón que me gusta tanto. Por cierto, si es que aún no han escuchado este discazo, un amigo lo comparte en este enlace. Sin duda alguna, todo un temazo!!

El día de hoy me encontraba escuchando a la bandaza sueca Therion, y me di cuenta de que no había escrito nada sobre ellos, lo cual me parece increíble, ya que es sin duda una de las bandas más influyentes del género. Pero bueno, este temazo se llama “Son of the Sun”, y se encuentra en el discazo titulado Sirius B, que además se incluyó en el digipack donde venía el otro discazo titulado Lemuria, y que fueron publicados en Mayo del 2004.

Este temazo tiene una melodía y poder tan magistral que engancha desde la primera escucha, especialmente por la voz de la soprano que es realmente espectacular. Y ni que decir de la lírica, que nos habla del Faraón Akhenaten, que prefirió el culto a Aton, dios del sol, sobre todos los demás dioses, y como siempre, su reinado no tuvo éxito. En general, este es un discazo de esos que escuchamos y no se nos olvidan nunca. Tremenda obra maestra de la música.

Hace tiempo que no ponía la lírica de una canción, así que el día de hoy me animé a hacerlo con este temazo de Blackmore’s Night, y es que me encontraba degustando el álbum recopilatorio Beyond the Sunset: The Romantic Collection, publicado en el 2004, y cada vez que escucho esta hermosa melodía del tema “Wish you were here”, una extraña nostalgia invade mi corazón, pero a la misma vez siento una tierna alegría de estar escuchando una celestial voz como la de la bella Candice Night, una voz que me produce ese efecto del llamado de una sirena, y que una vez que comienzo a escucharla no me detengo hasta repasar toda su discografía.

Por cierto, este tema originalmente se encuentra en su álbum debut titulado Shadow of the Moon, publicado en 1997. Y donde el extraordinario Ritchie Blackmore no da una muestra de lo que una mente tan creativa puede llegar a lograr, impresionante álbum, creo que lo definiría mejor al decir, impresionante trayectoria musical. A propósito, al comprar este CD me enteré de que era un cover de una banda sueca llamada Rednex, tema que se encuentra en el disco titulado Sex & Violins, lanzado en el año 1995. Pero sin duda, la voz de Candice Night le dio ese toque tan medieval, y tan hermoso que difícilmente se puede describir, por eso este es todo un temazo!!

El día de hoy estaba escuchando este temazo y me percaté de que no había escrito nada sobre esta bandaza llamada Sonata Arctica, y que mejor que comenzar con esta obra maestra de la música llamada “The Wind Beneath My Wings”, que se encuentra en el EP titulado Orientation, publicado en Febrero del 2001, y que por cierto es un cover de la cantante norteamericana Bette Midler, y que originalmente fue grabada por Roger Whittaker.

La primera vez que la escuché me revolucionó las neuronas, es una canción que se sale del estilo característico de la agrupación, un tema que anteriormente ya había escuchado, pero que en la voz de Tony Kakko suena totalmente diferente, toda una joya musical, una melodía que se puede escuchar infinitamente, buena composición, buena melodía, buena voz, buena banda, que más se puede pedir. Tremendo temazo!! lo que nos dejaron estos finlandeses.

Hace tiempo que no ponía la lírica de una canción, así que el día de hoy me animé a hacerlo con este temazo de la banda holandesa After Forever, cuya vocalista es la majestuosa Floor Jansen, y que por cierto, en este tema demuestra porque es considerada una de las mejores voces del Symphonic Metal. La canción se llama “Come” y se encuentra en el álbum titulado Remagine, que fue publicado en el 2005. Impresionante el cambio de registro vocal de la bella Floor, que como leí alguna vez en un review que le hicieron al disco, hace desmayarse a más de un fan de la siempre linda Tarja Turunen. Y es que es sin duda, todo un temazo!!

Y pensé dejarlo para otro momento, pero era imposible, esta es la melodía perfecta, la baladaza que transformó mi existencia hasta convertirla en el siguiente paso de la evolución musical, un temazo que me hizo encontrarme con la buena música hasta límites que van más allá de la propia imaginación humana. Es la baladaza que le dedico a todas las mujeres del mundo, un temazo digno de los dioses, una joyaza musical, el santo grial en melodía.

La canción se llama “Show Me The Way”, y se encuentra en el primer álbum de la extraordinaria agrupación The Storm, publicado en 1991. Nuevamente en las voces el maestro Kevin Chalfant, dictando cátedra de canto e interpretación vocal, que tal voz. Impresionante. Y además podemos escuchar al majestuoso guitarrista Josh Ramos tocar con todo el sentimiento del universo.

Amo esta canción, es uno de esos temazos que nunca se nos olvidan, y que se podría dedicar a la mujer amada con toda la sinceridad del mundo. Por cierto, por si el audio no es suficiente, para este temazo se publicó un video, aunque poco conocido, pero sin duda, todo un videazo!!.

Este temazo demuestra porque amo tanto la música, la primera vez que lo escuché una lágrima de felicidad recorrió parte de mi rostro, mi mente comenzó a divagar hacia una realidad cósmica donde la fantasía con la realidad eran una sola, y es que lo que estaba escuchando era el santo grial de las baladas, por todos los dioses, que tal temazo!!

El nombre de esta joyaza musical es “To Have And To Hold”, y pertenece a la extraordinaria banda The Storm, se encuentra en su segundo y último álbum titulado Eye Of The Storm, publicado en 1993. Esta agrupación estaba conformada por músicos tan talentosos, que prácticamente ya no necesitan presentación, tenemos al talentoso teclista Gregg Rolie, al bajista Ross Valory, al baterista Steve Smith (reemplazado luego por el batero Ron Wikso), al extraordinario vocalista Kevin Chalfant y al majestuoso guitarrista Josh Ramos. Sin duda, toda una bandaza.

Solo me resta por decir que luego de escuchar semejante baladaza nuestra percepción de la vida como la conocemos cambiará para siempre, y es que es tanta la fuerza de esta melodía que llega directo al espíritu musical. Por cierto, esta fue la segunda baladaza de esta banda que me hizo evolucionar hasta convertirme en un mejor ser humano, la primera se llama “Show Me The Way”, y se encuentra en su álbum debut titulado simplemente The Storm.

The Storm – To Have And To Hold

Hoy me he puesto a recordar este temazo llamado “Intuition”, que pertenece a una de las mejores bandas de todos los tiempos, me refiero a los noruegos de TNT, una canción con un poderoso intro, que me hace levantar de mi cómoda silla y rockear desde la primera nota. La voz del gran Tony Harnell es sin duda una de las mejores que he escuchado en este plano de mi existencia.

Por cierto, este tema se encuentra en el discazo del mismo nombre que se publicó en 1989, y es un álbum que se puede escuchar millones de veces y nunca perderá su calidad. Hasta donde no será de excelente esta canción, que otra de mis bandas favoritas, Dragonland, la incluyó como bonus track en el disco Astronomy, el cual comenté hace ya varios meses atrás.

En la actualidad el único sobreviviente de los que tocaron en este álbum es el guitarrista Ronni Le Tekro, los demás se retiraron por diferentes motivos, y a propósito de eso, TNT lanzará su nueva producción titulada Atlantis este 22 de Septiembre, y ya se pueden escuchar 3 samples de las canciones Hello, Hello, Love Of My Live y Tango Girl. También es el segundo trabajo con el nuevo vocalista Tony Mills (ex-Shy). Claro, que el sonido ya es totalmente diferente, pero no por eso deja de ser bueno, claro está, si lo escuchamos como si fuera una nueva banda.

TNT – Intuition

Hace varios meses comenté sobre la discografía de la buena agrupación finlandesa Warmen, y hoy me gustaría escribir algo sobre este temazo llamado “Spark”, que lo tengo rondando en mi mente desde hace varios días. En esta canción podemos escuchar en las voces al extraordinario vocalista Timo Kotipelto, nacido el 15 de Marzo de 1969 en Lappajärvi, Finlandia.

Como ya debemos de saber, Timo estudió canto en el conservatorio de Helsinki, su primera banda se llamó Filthy Asses, hasta que en 1994 se unió a una de las mejores bandas de todos los tiempos, Stratovarius, que actualmente ha dejado de existir hasta nuevo aviso.

En el 2002, Janne Viljami Wirman lo invita a participar en el segundo álbum que estaba grabando con su banda Warmen, el cual se titularía Beyond Abilities, y que es para mi uno de los mejores álbumes que he escuchado. Pero esta canción realmente tiene una melodía que hace querer escucharla una y otra vez hasta el infinito musical. Hay que resaltar los teclados del talentoso Janne, y por supuesto la voz del maestro Kotipelto, que tal temazo!!

La bella voz de Tarja Turunen va más allá del infinito musical, es increíble lo hermosa que es su voz, hoy estuve re-escuchando esta baladaza y no he podido sacarla de mi mente, es una melodía tan maravillosa y tranquila que tenía que escribir algo al respecto. El nombre de este temazo es “The Reign” y se encuentra en su exitoso álbum como solista titulado My Winter Storm, que fue publicado en Noviembre del 2007, también se incluyó en el EP I Walk Alone lanzado un mes antes del álbum oficial, que por cierto, es a donde pertenece este audio. Actualmente la linda Tarja se encuentra trabajando en su nuevo álbum, que será publicado a principios del 2009.

Tarja Turunen – The Reign

Nos acompaña nuevamente el día de hoy la banda holandesa Within Temptation con el temazo “Running Up that Hill”, que es un cover de la cantante y compositora británica Kate Bush, pero que con esta extraordinaria versión le demostraron al mundo que la banda estaba ya en otro nivel de calidad musical. Quien más sino la hermosa voz de la bella Sharon den Adel para interpretar semejante tema y superar la versión original de forma tan impactante.

Por cierto, este temazo se encuentra en el single del mismo nombre que lanzaron en el 2003, y del cual hubieron tres versiones, el de dos tracks, el de tres tracks y el Special Edition CD/DVD, donde encontramos el videazo de este tema, uno de los mejores que he visto, que linda se le ve a la majestuosa Sharon en ese video, totalmente impresionante, todo un Temazo.

Una de las mejores voces del country nos acompaña el día de hoy, la bella Martina McBride, nacida el 29 de Julio de 1966 en Kansas. Su carrera comenzó en el año 1992 con el lanzamiento de su álbum debut The Time Has Come y desde entonces no ha parado de cosechar éxito tras éxito. Su hermosa y melodiosa voz es atrapante, se puede escuchar toda su discografía durante días y aún así pediríamos más. Ha vendido más de 16 millones de discos y ha sido ganadora también de innumerables premios como mejor vocalista del año.

Este temazo “Independence Day” se encuentra en su segundo álbum titulado The Way That I Am lanzando el 14 de Septiembre de 1993, y certificado como disco platino. Me enamoré de esta canción desde que la escuché por primera vez hace algunos años atrás, y mi adicción volvió cuando la escuché cantar en el concierto del año 2003 en el CMT Crossroads, junto a otra grande como Pat Benatar, que tal interpretación, ver a Martina lagrimeando por el poder vocal de Benatar, es de por sí, impresionante, nunca borraré ese recuerdo de mi mente. Hace algunos años escuché por primera vez este temazo llamado “Rowena’s Song”, de la banda finlandesa Unshine, y la verdad es que me encantó la voz de Susanna Vesilahti y la melodía. Una canción que atrapa a primera escucha, que nos transporta a universos inimaginables, y que hace que uno se quede tarareándola por un largo tiempo. Increíble melodía.

El grupo se autocategoriza como Druid Metal, aunque muchos lo describen como Athomspheric Gothic Metal, pero eso es lo de menos, no importa el género, lo más importante son las buenas composiciones que realizaron para su álbum debut del 2005 titulado Earth Magick, que es donde se encuentra este temazo, además de otros siete buenos temas más.

Recientemente la banda lanzó su esperada segunda producción discográfica titulada The Enigma of Immortals, un agradable disco con melodías más maduras y buenas composiciones. Pero para saborear su sonido, que mejor que este temazo llamado “Rowena’s Song”.
